More than 120 women have benefited from the year long program which offers one-on-one mentoring and targeted financial assistance.

Our Beginnings

Raising HOPE (formerly HOPE’s Fund) was established in 2007 by the United Way of Ulster County to support Ulster County women who have faced adversity on their journey to self-sufficiency. An initial grant from the Dyson Foundation and donations from local community members helped launch Raising HOPE. United Way of Ulster County continues to be the fiduciary for the organization and provides administrative support and technical assistance.

Our vision is to offer Help, Opportunity, Passion, and Empowerment to support women on their journey to success and self-sufficiency. We believe in the power of woman-to-woman mentoring, which connects the mentee to someone who supports, encourages and believes in her potential. At the same time, the mentor experiences the joy and satisfaction of helping another woman overcome the obstacles in her path and make positive changes in her life. We also recognize that scholarships and grants are often essential to support our mentees’ educational and vocational goals. Raising HOPE can be a resource for this as well.

The Leadership Council

Raising HOPE is governed by a Leadership Council, which include women in Ulster County who believe in the power of mentoring and have overcome obstacles, as well as achieved successes, in their own lives.
